Hyperpigmentation, fatigue and depression following COVID-19

Hi, my son and I caught COVID-19 in January and we were both severely I’ll for about 3 weeks. In April I had a schizophrenic episode that lasted for about a month. I stopped taking my multivitamin and all supplements and all symptoms subsided. My son and I both caught another infection in late May. My son had a bad cough and gut inflammation (pale diarrhea). I had the same symptoms plus a severe electrolyte imbalance, metallic taste in mouth, pain where my thyroid is located, inflammation of my esophagus, what felt like hypercalcemia, encephalitis, depression and concentration problems. Since this last infection we have both lost a lot of weight. My skin has become much darker and I don’t ever go out in the sun. My heart rate felt almost nonexistent these last few weeks. I have a feeling that my magnesium levels might be high. It also feels like something is wrong with my iron metabolism. I haven’t had my menstrual cycle in 3 months now and I’m 36 years old, which seems a bit early for menopause. I’ve been to the ER twice, the only answer I got was that I had gallstones. I brought my son to the minor ER and they did nothing. They didn’t even test us for COVID-19 this last infection we caught. Do you know what we could have caught this last time?

Thanks for the question. Some of your symptoms may be related to meds or supplements. The burning and thyroid pain is largely due to gastric reflux. As for the pigmentation, see your doctor for an endocrine evaluation. Heavy metals can also be involved. I should mention that Covid can cause endocrine disturbances. Please see your doctor.
