Is Lexapro a mood stabilizer?

I am a 33 year old male. I want to know if Lexapro is a mood stabilizer?

NO. The well-known “mood stabilizers” are only Lithium, Valproic Acid and Carbamazepine.
Lexapro (escitalopram) belongs to the class of antidepressants. To be more specific, it’s a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Antidepressants help stabilize mood. So in a broad sense it’s a mood stabilizing medication. However, the term “mood stabilizers” is more specifically used for medications that also help stabilizer the “upper pole” as well as the “lower pole” of a fluctuating mood disorder (as in a bipolar disorder). They typically refer to medications like lithium or antiepileptic drugs with mood stabilizing properties (like Depakote, Tegretol, Lamictal) and more recently to atypical antipsychotics many of which have obtained indications for the treatment of bipolar disorder).
