It started with constipation last November. I tried metamucil, which didn't seem to work but, on day 2 of taking it (with minimum 8 oz water) I was stricken with crippling stomach pain, spasms, cramping. I immediately stopped the metamucil however, I know struggle with this crippling pain frequently. It usually happens 1 1/2 to 2 hours after I get up. My routine: take thyroid med with water, start coffee, let dog out, brush teeth, drink 1-2 cups of coffee. It isn't every day and it's always before I eat. I have tried going without caffeine and without anything hot without success. I have an inguinal hernia which seems to be getting bigger and causes lower abdominal pain. I don't know if its related. I've kept a journal and there is no pattern other than the timing. In June, I have 15 days free of pain! The pain can last from 30 minutes to 4 hours and it is crippling! The quality of my life has been drastically affected. I'm not having much luck with my primary care or the gastro doc other than take more pills (linzess, which I cannot afford) and wait until October 30 for a colonoscopy and endoscopy! Am I expecting too much from them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
