It is possible this can happen. It depends on if you have been adjusted before. If the segments that were adjusted were malposition for a long time.
Hi there, you can feel a little sore after your first few adjustments. A skilled chiropractor will change his technique to determine what works best if you were still feeling discomfort
Not all the time, sometimes because your body has been misaligned for a long time and it may take a few adjustments before you respond well to treatment.
Sometimes, depending upon how tight your muscles are prior to the adjustment, the muscles can get a sore - a bit like doing a new exercise for the first time. After an adjustment, the muscles are actually having to readjust and work in a proper fashion. If there was significant trauma - that would affect soreness also. Your chiropractor should tell you what to do if you get sore and roughly how long it should last. Barring significant trauma, in general, you may have soreness that lasts up to 24 hours. If you do experience this, contact your chiropractor and ask what they recommend for self care to alleviate the pain.
Hi,

Yes, it can be normal due to the changes your body is going through from the adjustment or muscle work.
Yes. It is normal to be sore after chiropractic treatment. I usually explain that getting ajusted is similar to working out. If you haven't worked out for a while or it's your first time, muscles will get sore. I recommend that you ice any sore area from 15 to 20 minutes, as often as once and hour. Also hydration is important for health and the healing process. One should drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water. And your chiropractor should have you on a treatment plan. One visit doesn't always "fix" the issue.
It is possible to be sore after a chiropractic adjustment. We always recommend our patients ice for twenty minutes at a time as often as they can after their first couple of visits. All of the muscles and ligaments that are attached to the spine are getting stretched and pulled in different ways than they have in a long time, so they can get sore. Most people slowly get better with chiropractic care, some rapidly get better and then there are the patients that may get worse before they get better.

It can be normal to hurt after seeing a chiropractor, but it can also be abnormal. Usually patients feel better immediately or within a day, and sometimes within 3 days after chiropractic care. Sometimes pain after a treatment is from unmasking another more painful layer so it’s an indication that you’re pealing away the layers and making progress. However, sometimes if the secondary issue was treated but the primary issue wasn’t treated, the secondary issue will just get reestablished and that can be painful. And sometimes the tension of the distortion pattern shifted the bony alignment into a more painful position as the adjustment was delivered. Sometimes the treatment does harm. Understanding concisely what your pain is like helps to determine what provoked the pain. So sorry I couldn’t be more specific. I hope you are better soon.
It can, but not often.
Sometimes yes. It depends on the circumstances, but oftentimes, when something hasn't moved for a long time and starts moving, it can feel sore like you recently worked out.
Sometimes your body can be sore after an adjustment for a couple of days. If this persists, talk to your Chiropractor about it. They will make the proper modifications to treatment.
Hi. Depending on the techniques used by The Chiropractor and how your body responded to adjustments, you can experience more pain before getting better. You can always talk to your Chiropractor and express how you feel after adjustments and he/she should use different techniques that you can tolerate better..
Have you talked to your Doctor of Chiropractic about this reaction you are having? That is first thing to do and it is pertinent that underlying causes be ruled out. However, it may be something simple. I encourage my patients to talk to me so that I can get the best results. I can then modify my procedure as needed.
Normally, people feel better after seeing a chiropractor. If you are feeling more pain, that is not normal, and there is something else going on that needs to be addressed. I would start by checking your nutrition status, or doing a blood lab/urinalysis workup. Having said that, it is not uncommon to feel soreness after a treatment. This would be similar to a post work-out soreness, not an "Oh oh, I hurt myself" soreness. There is a difference.
