Surgeon Questions Shoulder dislocation

Is surgery required to treat shoulder dislocation in elderly patients?

My grandfather fell down and dislocated his shoulder. The doctors have suggested surgery. However, he is 84 years old and we would like to know if a surgery is problematic for him considering his age. I trust the doctors' recommendations but I am just worried sick.

Your grandfather should make the choice. You say you trust the doctor. I think you are worried over something that is not for you to say what he should do. The best thing for you to do is pray for God to do what is necessary for your grandfather. I can tell you this: everything will come out the way it is supposed to and you will not feel responsible for whatever happens. I will tell you this: I am 71 myself and I would want my granddaughter to pray that I got well because grandfathers never want to leave a grandchild; after all God give us grandchildren not for them to worry about us, but so we can do things with them that your mom and dad do not want you to do like go drive a race car together. I think you understand what I am saying. I wish your grandfather and your family the best.

You are in good health, an 84-year-old man should be supported to fix his shoulder. If this is the treatment he was advised, that will fix his problem.
Try to reduce manually, and if it fails, follow the surgeon’s advice.
