Lesser Occipital Nerve Pain

hello, I am a male and currently live in Colorado, I am suffering from a somewhat strange ailment, for the past week just after I orgasm, I get a searing shooting pain up my neck through the left side of my head reaching just above my temple. During this time my neck also stiffens but aside from a bit of the aforementioned stiffness, I feel no other sensitivity to light or noise from the pain in my head. I believe that it may be occipital neuralgia but I'm no doctor so I'll leave it to the professionals

Orgasmic headache is a primary headache disorder not infrequently seen in dedicated headache clinics such as mine. It is best to meet with your primary care physician to exclude secondary causes of this type of headache which typically involved brain and artery imaging. If negative, it is most likely orgasmic headache typically treated with beta blocker medications, either preventively or intermittently before sexual activity
While cervical neuralgia is a consideration other causes such as vascular conditions must be considered. Schedule a visit with a Neurologist for a detailed history and physical examination and to consider appropriate testing. Good luck. Dr.F Sent from AOL on Android
