Ear-Nose and Throat Doctor (ENT) Questions

Mouth sores

Hello, my wife has had this problem now for a few weeks where inside her mouth it hurts really bad to swallow and eat. She has a severe white covering of her tongue and walls of the mouth. Whatever it is it also affects her speech as if the mouth is swollen and or just plan hurts.
She is 71 yrs old, in good shape for her age, but her General practitioner that she sees at the Doctor's office doesn't know what to do for her as he has done nothing.
She is in the beginning stages of Dementia/Alzheimer's so when I ask what the GP said during her Dr. visit she'll say nothing......more than likely she forgot?

Female | 71 years old
Complaint duration: 21 days
Medications: ?
Conditions: diabetes that she tries to handle without medicines.

This sounds like thrush and is treated with Nystatin. Nystatin can be used as a mouthwash four to five times a day or may also be taken orally. Oral hygiene is important and her diabetes needs to be taken care
