My father is suffering from late stage cancer. My mother seems unable to accept his condition. Can a palliative care specialist or an end of life care specialist counsel my mother?

If the prognosis is given to be less than 6 months, then I would highly recommend considering hospice services. Not only they will provide care to your father, they would also support you and your mother through these rough times. Hospice involved interdisciplinary team includes trained counselors as well.
