Neurologist Questions

Question

I have no history of seizures or any neurological conditions. I was prescribed bupropion (Wellbutrin) which is the only medication that truly worked for me. I decided to increase the dose which meant that the pills were larger. I had a hard time swallowing the larger pills and ended up letting them disintegrate in my mouth which eventually caused me to have a seizure because of serotonin toxicity. My question is, if I go back on Wellbutrin and stay on the lower dose with the smaller pills so I can take them as prescribed, is it going to trigger my brain in thinking that I will have another seizure. I really want to go back on this medication as it was the only one that helped me for multiple reasons, and it was completely my fault that I had the seizure but I just want to make sure my brain won’t be triggered once I start taking the medication again. Please let me know. Thank you

Seizure incidence with Wellbutrin isles than 1%, in an NIH study, and occurs primarily in patients taking more than 450 mg a day. A lower dose, therefore would carry less risk of a seizure recurrence. Leon Rosenberg
