My 8 year old son has an ear infection. Should my child stay home with an ear infection?

The ear infection itself is not contagious as it is contained beheld the eardrum. However, if your son has any fever, vomiting, severe pain until the antibiotics take effect or heavy cough and nasal drainage he should stay home until those symptoms resolve.
As long as your child does not have a fever or is in such pain that they cannot function at school then. They should attend.
There are many kinds of ear infection, therefore you should see your child's doctor.
