General Practitioner Questions Splenectomy

Splenectomy in prison

I have to self-surrender to prison in a couple weeks. I am immune compromised from obesity and have had a splenectomy. Would the Covid vaccine be less effective for me? Not being able to social distance, effectiveness of vaccine not protecting me as well as not immune compromised individuals, and location I will be just got 6 confirmed Covid cases. What are my odds of contracting Covid, staying safe, and not getting severely sick?

Your immunoincompetency will be the deciding factor in that the purpose of any vaccination is to stimulate the immune response to a given pathogen. Meanwhile, it is advisable to get the shot regardless - it will not protect you 100% - but it may protect you more than nothing.
