“Why does I smell and taste something gross when I remove the inner cannula out of my trecheostomy?”
I have a trecheostomy in and lately when I remove the inner cannula out of it I can smell and taste something gross. Why or what could it be?

Medications: Ton
Conditions: Just had 2 heart valves replaced n brain surgery n 2 broken ribs n just got over phemonia

It could be a chronic infection or low grade pneumonia. Have your doctor take culture of the trach tube, and have the entire trach tube changed.
