Pediatrician Questions Bedwetting

How is bedwetting problem treated in older children?

My son is 8 years old and still wets his bed. We have been making sure that he doesn't have a lot of water before he sleeps and if he goes to the bathroom before he wakes up, but it doesn't seem to work. Can this be treated in older children?

Limit fluids in the pm. Bed Ahlam. Meds.
Above 6 years old, they can get DDAVP, a hormone the body usually makes to tell it not to wet at night. Sometimes children, especially boys, are later in making this hormone (12 or 13 years old) and can have trouble staying dry. There are also alarms and other medications that can be tried.
