Anesthesiologist Questions Sleep Apnea

Can I have anesthesia if I have sleep apnea?

I'm 50 and I have had sleep apnea for about two years. I need to have surgery for my hernia under general anesthesia. Will my sleep apnea cause any complications?

Any kind of anesthesia has risks. If you have OSA, the risks increase. Suggest you should be evaluated by a pneumo and anesthesiologist, and I recommend the patient be hospitalized after the procedure. Also, I recommend you bring your cpap machine.
