Physical Therapist Questions Physical Therapy

Should my child be going to a physical therapist?

My son is 8 years old and is not as strong as normal kids of his age. His hands and legs lack the right balance that normal children of his age have. His standing position also is very weak. Should we take him for physical therapy? Will it further strain him is my biggest worry.

Has his pediatrician noticed these issues? It does sound like a Pediatric Physical Therapist would be able to discern the underlying causes here. They are trained to connect and engage with children in a safe, reassuring way.
Yes, but before that, take him to a child neurologist to make sure he is not having any other nerve-related issues and then PT is recommended.
You should see a pediatrician first. There’s a possibility of a Neurological issue going on
Absolutely!! Find a pediatric physical therapist.
It sounds as if he would be an excellent PT candidate. Find a pediatric therapist who specializes in caring for children and get him started on a proprioception, balance and strengthening program.
