Anesthesiologist Questions CAT Scans

Are children sedated for scans like CAT?

My child needs to have a CAT scan but is extremely nervous about it (frankly, I don't blame them). Are children typically sedated for CAT scans when they're really anxious about it?

Yes, but they shouldn't be, it's not like an MRI. It only lasts a few minutes. Only a crazy kid would need sedation for a CT scan...or a newborn who doesn't know better.
Sedation is used sometimes in children. Make sure that the facility knows about your concerns and is able to do sedation. Occasionally children need to be anestisized, usually for MRI, and an anesthesiologist should be present.
