Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Specialist Questions Fever

Is convulsions in a child during fever okay?

My nephew is 5 months old. After his routine vaccines he got a fever and at night he also had some convulsion. Is it normal or should we bring him to the doctor? He is fine now.

It can be normal but you should discuss with your doctor to be sure Michael L Spear, MD, MSEdl Faculty Advisor, Honor Board Professor of Pediatrics Drexel University College of Medicine
Baby should be seen and evaluated to make sure there is nothing wrong with the baby
It is common for some babies to have febirle seizures, which are benign, and subside quickly. However, it is good to bring it up to your pediatrician's attention for future considerations.
He should be seen immediately to separate severe illness from febrile seizures.
