Anesthesiologist Questions Anesthesia

Can I feel drowsy a week after my anesthesia was delivered?

I was given anesthesia for my DNC a week ago. I am feeling drowsy and very sleep. Can the effect of anesthesia stay this long in the body?

Should not.
The current anesthesthetics are short acting and very little amounts stay in body.
If you are anemic, low blood count, due to blood loss before the procedure may be a cause for your symptoms. See your gynecologist to check your hemoglobin (red cell count) . If these are normal you should consult an internal medicine Doctor to get a thorough exam and lab work.
Most effects of anesthesia are gone 24 to 48 hours after surgery. A D&C is a short procedure that has need for little anesthesia.

The drugs we use for anesthesia have half lives that measure in minutes or hours (a half life is the time it takes for the concentration in your blood to drop by half, with a significant drop in effect at one half life), not days. Unless you are still taking long acting opioids such as methadone, the answer is no, nothing during your D/C is still around.
It's unlikely that the anesthetic performed a week ago is responsible for your lethargy. If you are taking medication, then this is more likely the cause.
Doubtful. Most anesthesthetics clear the body within 4 hours and are certainly gone within 24
No, not from the anesthesia. Surgery is very stressful to the body, many hormonal changes occur and the stress from this may make you tired for some time. I would expect you to feel better in the next few days
Usually, only a light anesthetic is required for D & C, and all sedative effects should be completely resolved after 24 hours. If you are drowsy and sleepy a week later, you should have your gynecologist exam you, measure your vital signs, and determine your blood count.
Your effect from the anesthesia should be worn off within a short time, typically within 24 hours. However, you had a surgical procedure that will be a stressor to your body and the process of healing will take up to several weeks. Factors also that need to be considered is what pain medications you are taking and how extensive the procedure was on your body. A DNC is considered a minor surgery, but did you have a lot of blood loss for example.
Unlikely. Would suggest looking for other causes.
Typically, no. If you received medications to take at home post-procedure, they can.

No, anesthetics do not cause effects beyond 24-48 hrs.
Unlikely- anesthesia is usually gone within a few hours
To my knowledge, no anesthetic drug action lasts more than 24 to 48 hours. However, I cannot answer your question without knowing all the medications that were administered to you.
