How early should you take your child to see a speech pathologist?

My 13 month old son seems to have a small lisp. How early should you take your child to see a speech pathologist?

Depending on the nature of the issues. Of course your child would have to be able to speak before we can “fix” their speech sounds. If there’s a language delay or other issues such as feeding and eating, then might need to be earlier than that
13 months is too young if your only concern is a lisp. A child doesn’t produce all of their sounds appropriately until at least 5 years old, sometimes later. You can do a free evaluation with early intervention services if you’re worried.
