Sometimes it gets better on its own and life is good. If you are weekend warrior or simply play hard than you should get it checked out as it may worsen, lead to tears and/or cause other problems along the kinetic chain
Hello,
Tendinitis can reduce in pain by itself over time, but it may heal poorly and be weakened. This could lead to chronic injury at the same tendon over and over. Get some treatment for it or, at the very least, look up eccentric exercises and start doing them for the tendon involved. Eccentrics are shown to help correct tendinitis that are chronic (more than 3 months).

You will want to have this addressed ASAP so it does not become a chronic condition. Rest the muscle. Ice it. Heat it. Stretch the affected muscle/tendon. YouTube a video taking you through a stretching routine. Get a massage. Get a chiropractic adjustment. Bottom line: Do NOT just let it be. Take action!

Typically if tendonitis goes untreated it tends to get worse. Sometimes it will self-resolve, but the underlying reason why you have tendonitis in the first place should not be neglected. If you think you have tendonitis, you should visit a chiropractor or orthopedic specialist who will take a detailed history, do a thorough exam, and offer you advice on how to treat the underlying cause of your condition.
Untreated tendonitis can become worse and even lead to more serious pathology over time. I recommend getting treatment as soon as possible in order to decrease complications and to speed healing times.
