“What is the hissing sound I am hearing in my ears?”
All of a sudden I can hear a ringing sound in my ears and it doesn't look like it is coming from the external environment. What could this sound be? Is it in the ears or something connected to the head?

We would typically call this tinnitus. I would recommend that you see an ear nose and throat physician, as well as an audiologist for an ear and hearing examination as this, may be able to determine a potential cause for this.
It is called Tinnitus. There are many causes of tinnitus, aspirin is a common cause as other medications can induce it. Hearing loss specially in the highest frequencies is very common and is mostly due to exposure to loud noises like rock music gun fire, concerts, ear speakers and moisy tools like electric saws and/or hydraulic ones, in general any noise exceeding 110 decibels.

Tinnitus, most commonly associated with cochlear hair cell damage. Many other causations depending on symptom complex.
It's called tinnitus. It is technically being produced by the sound receptors in the ear. You need to see an ENT and have a hearing test as well.
Could be simple tinnitus. You may need a hearing test to evaluate...may need to see an ENT doctor and audiologist.
