Hi,

This is a more complicated question. It really depends on what is causing the muscle pains. Each cause would have a different treatment. There are a lot of different things that can cause muscle pains in your legs. For example, a herniated disc in your back, stenosis, vascular issues, neurology issues. Treatment options would be muscle relaxers, nerve pills, etc. I would definitely recommend having an evaluation with a pain management doctor to see what the best thing for you is.
Heat or ice, whichever feels the best. Limit overuse in the healing phase. NSAIDs are very useful but their use and frequency thereof should be tailored to the person and their associated medical problems (AKA Consult your primary care physician). Last but not least, any muscle needs maintenance such as proper stretching both before and after use. Listen to your body, if it hurts too badly, don't do it!
