Pediatrician Questions ADHD

What medications help ADHD?

My 11-year-old daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and we're still trying to figure out her treatment. Her doctor wants her to be on Adderall. Is this a safe medication for ADHD? Are there other options?

Stimulants are the main stay treatment for ADHD. You can use a non stimulant strattera but it usually does not work as well. I like to use a long acting stimulant since you get less side effects and you only take it once a day. Make sure she is sitting near the teacher and you are helping to organize her work and avoiding distractions.
