  • My son is 8 years and his permanent teeth are crooked. Is it too early to go to an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists highly recommends kids to be checked by an orthodontist as early as age 7. Orthodontists might be able to diagnose and treat a patient if they have any malocclusion. On a side note, it is very common to have crowded teeth as early as age 8, but an expander treatment can help the patient to resolve crowding, so please consult with an orthodontist. Dr. H. Nagori, B.D.S, MPA, C.A.G.S (Orthodontics), ABO READ MORE

  • Can clenching my teeth cause them to erode?

Yes, a clenching or grinding habit, especially at night time, can cause trauma to your teeth. Tooth attrition could be due to malocclusion that can lead to teeth sensitivity and TMJ problems. Dr. H. Nagori, B.D.S, MPA, C.A.G.S (Orthodontics), ABO READ MORE

  • What are zirconia braces?

Hello, thank you for the great question. There are different kinds of braces available in the market: metal, ceramic, zirconia braces, etc. A few of them are aesthetically better looking than others, zirconia braces match with your tooth color so they look better and of course they cost more than metal brackets. There is no technical advantage between two kind of braces. Hope this helps. READ MORE

  • Is there a better way to get the perfect smile other than getting braces?

Yes there are multiple options to get your smile the way you want to. Technological advances have made orthodontics lot more easier than before. I would recommend having consultation with orthodontist in your area to explore different options that suits your case and get you best result possible. These days you can find clear aligner , lingual braces and other removable appliances as alternative to conventional braces that can help to correct your bite and tooth alignment. Your orthodontist can evaluate your case and help you select right treatment method. READ MORE

  • My 9 year old son is getting his permanent teeth, but they are not in order. What should I do?

We get this question in our pediatric practice all the time. It is hard for me to give you the right answer without evaluating your son's case, but the American Board of Orthodontics highly recommends kids to be evaluated as early as age 8. This will help the orthodontist diagnose any tooth or jaw-related problems earlier and prevent future complications. READ MORE

  • I have recently got my braces fixed and they seem to be cutting into the skin of my mouth. What to do?

Its normal to have irritation on your lips and cheeks while teeth are moving with braces. I would recommend placing wax on the bracket to prevent further irritation. Also, check if there is any wire extended outside last bracket. Sometimes, small extra piece of wire distal to molar bracket can cause lot of irritation. If problem still continues, then consult with your orthodontist. Dr.H.Nagori ( B.D.S, MPA, C.A.G.S (Orthodontics) , ABO ) READ MORE

  • After five weeks of completing my braces treatment my tooth hurts.

Great question. Having teeth sensitivity immediately after removed braces is very common. Assuming that you do not have any cavities on your teeth, I would recommend using sensodyne toothpaste. Use it for a month, try to stay away from cold and sugary food for now. If sensitivity does not improve, have a consultation with your general dentist. Dr. H. Nagori (B.D.S, MPA, C.A.G.S (Orthodontics), ABO) READ MORE

  • After removing my braces, my cheeks have swollen up. What could be the reason?

I need more information about your case to answer this question properly. Such as, how long was your treatment? Did you have any trauma? Ulcers? How is your dental hygiene? READ MORE

  • My son's permanent teeth are growing crooked. Should I take him to an orthodontist?

You can have your kids checked by orthodontist as early as age 7. You do not need dentist’s referral to go to orthodontist also most orthodontist offer free consultation. Best way to find orthodontist is on the AAO orthodontist website. Look for board certified orthodontist in your areas for best care for your kids. READ MORE

  • My daughter is 4 years old and is used to sucking her thumb. Will it cause her teeth to grow outwards?

Yes thumb sucking habit can have detrimental effect on teeth as well as jaw. I would highly recommend you to have consultation with your orthodontist. READ MORE

Orthodontists priority is the straightening of teeth. An orthodontist diagnoses overbites, occlusions, misaligned teeth and jaws, and overcrowded mouths. After the diagnosis, the orthodontist tries to solve any issues they discover. If left untreated, overbites, underbites, open bites, and cross bites are all problems that will grow worse over time. An orthodontist is an expert who repairs these conditions.

In his spare time, Dr. Nagori enjoys engaging in community events, playing tennis, running, and biking. Apart from his career, Dr. Nagori serves as editor of one of the most highly-revered journals, and has been published in several internally-recognized orthodontic journals.
