Is a root canal during pregnancy safe?
There are more possible complications from not treating a tooth like yours than there would be doing a root canal . A root canal involves 1 or 2 X-rays which we typically postpone during pregnancys and limit to as necessary but with digital radiographs there is very limited exposure and you are protected from it. You need a local anesthetic which is safe and in some cases with infection an antibiotic is needed but all these things can be dealt with safely. There are many possible complications when these teeth are not treated which is related to what is actually wrong with your tooth. The fact that you are in pain is reason enough to take care of this problem . Hope this helps you. Dr Thomas Reinhard READ MORE
Why do some dentists hurt during cleanings more than others?
I hear this quite often, especially when patients change dentists . Some dentists are just more aggressive than others and you of course notice the difference. I personally try to approach cleanings is a manner that is not painful . I don't think "no pain , no gain " applies to cleaning your teeth. Hope that helps. Dr Thomas Reinhard READ MORE
Do I have to be numb?
Many fillings can be fixed without pain and no numbing is needed but if facing a procedure which will hurt it is way smarter to get numb. It can be done very gently. I know where you are coming from, I always have despised "needles" and as a kid I always had my dad fix my teeth without numbing. It was a much more tolerable experience once I gave up and got numb , no more fear of something hurting. Hope this helped. Dr Thomas Reinhard READ MORE
What are the most visible signs and symptoms of a gum disease?
The first sign of gum trouble is bleeding when you floss or brush. The bleeding is not because you are cutting your gums but because your gums are inflamed. Gingivitis, your fed or bleeding guns, is reversible by effectively removing the plague adhering to the surface of your teeth. The real problem arises from allowing gingivitis to fester and eventually leading to pockets between your tooth and gum which causes bone loss around the tooth. Hope this helps. How can I close the gap between my frontal teeth?
We typically solve these issues with Invisalign clear braces. They look fine and patients do very well with them. It is nicer to close the gap by moving your teeth, otherwise you must eliminate the space with either bonding or porcelain veneers, these are the least invasive options. Hope this helped. Is it bad if a piece of an old filling falls out?
That is something that is better looked at than ignored. It may be fine, but if it is allowing leakage, it will be a bigger problem in the future. Hope this helps. Dr Thomas Reinhard READ MORE
