3. Whitney Houston
Legendary singer Whitney Houston was found dead in a bathtub surrounded by empty bottles of liquor. An investigation revealed she had accidentally drowned, with heart disease and cocaine use contributing to her death. She was one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, and the groundbreaking singer influenced generations of African American women.
The talented vocalist had a troubled personal life. Her rocky marriage to singer Bobby Brown was riddled with abuse and addiction. Years of drug abuse took their toll on the singer, whose health visibly deteriorated in the years leading up to her death.
In 2015, Houston and Brown’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was found unresponsive in a bathtub after a night of partying; it was an eerie, and tragic similarity to her mother’s death three years earlier. Bobbi Kristina was in a coma for six months before dying at the young age of 22.
