Brad Pitt: It's all about the diet

Iconic actor Brad Pitt has been a sex symbol since the early 1990s, and at age 54, he’s still got it.

His secret to holding on to his youthful good looks? His diet.

Pitt eats foods full of omega-3s, like salmon and chia seeds, to fight wrinkles. Omega-3 fatty acids help restore and protect the skin cell membrane, softening and moisturizing the skin to prevent wrinkles and improve the skin’s overall quality and texture.

The Hollywood icon also eats foods with lots of phytoceramides, like beets and brown rice, to keep his virtually ageless skin hydrated. Our bodies naturally produce ceramides to keep our skin moisturized, but as we age, we start to lose ceramides so our skin begins to develop wrinkles and a rough texture. Phytoceramides in food are essentially a plant-based equivalent of the hydrating ceramides our bodies produce naturally.

Additionally, the actor incorporates lean meats and eggs into his diet for their amino acids, which help protect skin cells from damage. Amino acids provide nutrients that nourish our skin, hair, and nails at a cellular level, strengthening the skin and boosting its naturally regenerative properties. Amino acids also boost the body’s production of collagen and elastin, firming the skin and smoothing out wrinkles.

Since he quit drinking alcohol, Pitt’s been drinking a lot of cranberry juice and seltzer instead, joking that he has “the cleanest urinary tract in all of L.A.” Although Pitt stopped drinking alcohol for other reasons, alcohol does cause premature aging of the skin, so his decision to forego alcoholic beverages is a healthy choice on multiple levels.
