Sweetened Breakfast Cereal: Not a great option for the most important meal of the day

Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day. However, if the food eaten during breakfast is not that healthy because of its sugary contents, then breakfast would somehow be a waste for diabetic people. Refined cereals are mostly sweetened and can trigger the rise of blood sugar in our body. Another option, which may be surprising, is oatmeal. The ADA does claim that oatmeal is a good choice for diabetics, but this is only if it's not sweetened and instant.

Try this instead: Breakfasts that are rich in protein

Replace your sugary breakfast with foods rich in protein, like eggs and meats that have low sodium and fats (like turkey or Canadian bacon). However, be careful. Egg yolks are high in cholesterol, so you may opt to cook a meal using the egg whites paired with a slice of low-carb bread.
