Alzheimer’s Deterioration: The Hidden Danger of Chronic Stress

How to avoid the negative effects of stress

Chronic stress is just one factor out of many that can affect the brain. As a degenerative disease, brain neurons are affected, which causes lots of memory problems. However, it is possible to avoid the negative effects of stress in the brain. And, here are just a few:

  • Cordner and Tamashiro used both young-adult and old mice to show that environmental enrichment can lessen the effects of stress on the brain. They are able to avoid the negative effects on learning and memory by giving the mice better bedding and toys to play with before and during the two-week chronic stress period. Those mice were able to do better on the exams than the other set of mice that were just in the set of chronic stress.
  • Recreational activities are encouraged to avoid the neurodegenerative disease as it can help improve the brain cells and avoid the aging of your brain. Puzzles that can challenge the brain can also help improve memory to avoid disease such as Alzheimer’s
