Since individuals with MS lose their protective myelin coating, several previous studies have found that regular exercise provides neuroprotective and neurogenerative effects on the body, thus promoting both brain and nerve health. Yet, despite this available data, Marck stressed that individuals with MS who experience pain are more likely to avoid exercising because they fear it may cause them additional pain. Yet, in avoiding exercise, it is far more likely that their health outcomes will deteriorate in the long run.
