Research Questions Link Between Thyroid Disorders and Type 2 Diabetes

Signs and symptoms of thyroid disease depends on the type

Signs and symptoms of thyroid disease would depend on whether a person has hyper or hypothyroidism since both are opposite conditions.

Hyperthyroidism is characterized by the excess of thyroid hormones resulting in higher rates of metabolism, enlarged thyroid gland, elevation of body temperature, tremor, loss of body weight, rapid heartbeat, menstrual irregularities, increased sweating, sleep disturbances and increased bowel movement.

Some of the common causes of hyperthyroidism are an excessive intake of iodine or thyroid hormones, Graves’ disease, inflammation of thyroid gland (thyroiditis), adenoma, and an abnormal secretion of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).
