Research identifying the environmental triggers
Some ongoing research regarding the environmental triggers are focused on understanding ‘exposomes’. Exposomes pertain to an overall measure of an individual’s exposure to environmental factors that affect their health. The analysis starts with those that occur before birth and includes those from occupational sources. The interaction between exposomes, non-genetic factors, and genetic susceptibility are intensive as this could provide a clear insight into the pathogenesis of the disease. The latter could further improve the therapeutic approaches used for lupus patients.
