Study Focuses on Link Between Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Melatonin

What is Melatonin?

Melatonin is a hormone produced by the brain while the body is in sleep mode. It is used to regulate the stages of sleep. The body is known to have five stages of sleep which are stage 1,2,3,4, and the rapid eye movement (REM) stage. Note that in some other write ups, there are only four stages of sleep. This is because the third and fourth stage were combined into one stage. But let there be five stages for better understanding of this study. Melatonin is usually produced in the fourth stage of sleep.

One other advantage of melatonin hormone is its ability to subdue the growth of tumors in breast cancer.
