The NBA Makes Space for Autism

The first sensory room opened at that same arena, and many more followed suit

In March of 2017, the first sensory room opened at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena, home to the Cleveland Cavaliers, followed by the Sacramento Kings, The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Utah Jazz. “We saw an opportunity to move beyond awareness toward inclusion and acceptance and to make NBA events and venues more accessible to any person facing a sensory disorder,” said Todd Jacobson, NBA senior vice president of social responsibility.
