Acceptance Versus Complacency with Rheumatoid Arthritis

Is "it is what it is" good enough?

Very frequently, people become accustomed to situations that they have been living with for a while. As Carol explains, people with RA typically become very good at living with pain. As it is often a part of your everyday life, you learn to adapt so that you can still function. This can be good to an extent, as it can enable people to continue to live their lives in a certain way. Carol says this becomes problematic when people start overlooking things that they could be changing to improve their overall situation. She says that it is important that people with RA ask themselves, “Is this as good as it can be?” instead of just saying, “It is what it is.”
