Is Sleep Apnea Deadly?

Hypertension

Hypertension is a common problem among people with sleep apnea, and right now, it is estimated that 5 to 7 people out of every 10 with sleep apnea suffer from hypertension as well. Those who do not suffer from hypertension are very likely to have a problem such as high blood pressure.

Obviously, these problems increase the risk of suffering a heart attack, a strop and many other health issues. Some experiments carried out on animals have shown a cause-and-effect relationship, meaning that sleep apnea is one of the causes behind the development of hypertension. Another curious finding was that at least 96% of men requiring up to 3 blood pressure medications have sleep apnea as a contributing problem. However, the use of a CPAP can help to improve blood pressure, and according to experts in the area, it can even contribute as much as blood pressure medication does.
