“Can a 10 year old be required to undergo a bypass surgery?”
My son is 10 years old and has been diagnosed with heart blockages. I never thought that a child could be diagnosed with heart blockages, and now his pediatrician wants us to discuss bypass surgery. Is this really recommended for small children with heart blockages?

What kind of blockage? Kids and babies can go on bypass.
Yes, if it’s necessary, it can be done. Make sure you go to a tertiary care center that does at least 400-plus pediatric cardiac bypass cases a year.
A narrowing in a heart valve can frequently be opened with a ballon in the catheterization lab. Sometimes vessels can also be repaired in this manner. It all depends on where the blockage is.
