Am I depressed or is it just my thoughts going wild?

I just feel like everything I do is meaningless. I sometimes feel that it's better to end everything. Some days I think that it's better to end it but other days I'm very active and finish my work quickly. On some days I can't even meet my deadlines. I procrastinate a lot and I thought I was just lazy. Even in the past, I procrastinated a lot but I would complete my work before deadlines. Nowadays I can't do any work.

It's been close to a year since I've been feeling like "It's better if I died". I haven't really tried anything yet. so I thought that I was just trying to get attention. I sometimes don't know what I'm feeling.

Am I just trying to get attention? or Is it just my thoughts going wild? or should I talk to someone? or should I get professional help?

Thank you for your consideration.

It sounds like you are depressed. I would recommend a psychiatric evaluation, since if it determined that you are depressed, you can be provided with appropriate medication.
Hi,

Thanks for your question and I am also happy to see that you are considering professional help. Conditions that should be ruled out: burnout, stress, medical reasons (like thyroid problems for instance, depression). I always recommend starting with the physical exam and lab tests, followed by the consultation with the psychiatrist. I have a feeling that a small dose of antidepressant might be effective.
Think positive! Good luck.

Given your perspective seek help from a MH professional who is experienced in dealing with depressed moods and suicidal ideation. The best person to see would be a coordinated team of MH therapist and psychiatrist.
