Are you fully sedated for a colonoscopy?

I will have a colonoscopy in 2 weeks. I want to know if you are fully sedated for a colonoscopy?

Colonoscopies are done in two ways in this country. Sedation is sometimes used. Anesthesia is becoming more popular. If you have doubts about your ability to do the procedure, or have failed it, with only sedation you might want to insist on anesthesia. Good luck!
You are sedated but not fully asleep. This means there may be moments when you may become aware of discomfort, voices, touching. These are short moments if at all. Some depends on whether sedation RN vs anesthesia is administering the sedation. Most people are unaware and remember none of the procedure. But unless you have full general anesthesia (which is really not necessary) there is a rare possibility or remembering the procedure
Yes, usually. I suppose you could ask not to be, if you wanted.
Yes. Colonoscopy is usually done under deep IV sedation with propofol
Yes. It is not general anesthesia, but you will be completely asleep.
I do not know what fully sedated means. You will be asleep. It is possible that you could awaken briefly during it but chances are very remote that you would remember anything.
