At what age do gums start receding?

I am a 39 year old female. I want to know at what age do gums start receding?

There is no specific age! It all depends on your dental hygiene, if you grind or clench, the alignment of your teeth, if you have any piercing in your mouth, and also your gene!
Well, that is a great question. Gums recede at very differing rates individually. It usually happens as we age, but there are several factors that can initiate recession at an early age. Most important to the health of your teeth and gums is to brush properly and obtain oral hygiene instructions from your dentist that are applicable to you personally.
Ideally, never. Gum recession is not a part of the aging process. There are numerous reasons why it can happen, but ideally, none of those things happen.

There is no particular age at which an individual’s gums recede even though gums do tend to recede over time. There are other factors that influence gum recession besides age, such as the way in which your teeth fit together, if you grind your teeth, and the type of tissue that you were born with (some gum tissue is more fragile than others).
Depends on a lot of factors, but usually in the 20s and 30s.
