Baby seizures?

My daughter is 4 months old and has been experiencing seizures for 2 months old. She is currently on keppra and epilim ani-seizure medication and the seizures is still happening. Lumber puncher has been done with blood tests and an EEG and MRI scan with normal results. They told me they got one last thing to test for so they took samples of her urine and sent it off saying it will take up to 3 weeks to get the results back. I would like to know what type of tests can that be that it takes too long to come back?

Most likely they are looking for metabolic reasons causing the seizures. These are rare disorders and some of them can be associated with seizures. It can take some time to get the results. So sorry your family is going through all this distress, but it sounds as if your daughter has had an extensive workup. You can discuss with your pediatrician or pediatric neurologist about the different metabolic reasons why this might be happening. For more information, you can look into inborn error of metabolism and seizures, and can direct your questions for your providers. Get Outlook for iOShttpsaka.mso0ukef
There are different tests that are done out of the laboratory like generic tests where are sent out. Tests time, even the simplest tests have a range of time to do them because there is a need to do additional tests, staining and cultures that are time sensitive. The usual time frame is from 5 to 7 days. However, when there is a test that needs confirmatory results (second opinion), the laboratory sends it out to a reference laboratory and therefore it takes longer. Thank you.
