Blood mixed in stools?

I have had chronic blood mixed in stools for 3 years. It’s actually mixed in not streaked but reddish stools. Sometimes some mucous. Is this common for internal hemorrhoids? Stools are mostly solid. I do remember at some point in my life where the blood dripped and wasn’t mixed in. Which seemed more like internal hemorrhoids. I never have discomfort. But as long as I can remember I have just written off uncomfortable bathroom habits and occasional cramping as normal. I would also note I do get gas pains quite often.

Please see a Gastroenterologist ASAP. What you are describing is not likely from internal hemorrhoids. You need to have some tests done to check for serious conditions, including cancer, but more likely Ulcerated Colitis, or Proctitis. Please call today to be seen ASAP.

Yes, what you describe is very typical of hemorrhoids. Since you are over 45 years old, though, you should have a colonoscopy if not done before.
