Bunion operation?

I am due to have my 2 week follow-up appointment after my bunion operation. I was wondering if I have to have a cast again or can I have alternate dressings?

I would definitely discuss this with the surgeon, his/her staff or the rehab/postop professionals as each case has its own needs.
This is important. Accept no additional advice from friends or family or me (LOL).
Hi! This all depends on the type of surgery and what was discussed with your surgeon.
The type of postoperative dressing is usually up to the physician. Each physician has a different type of dressing they like postoperatively to stabilize the surgical area.

Hello, Thank you for your question. We have to evaluate you and take foot x-rays if needed.
Without knowing what procedure was performed I can not opine on this issue. I am sure your doctor is the best person to make that decision..
It is important to address all your post procedure questions and concerns with your surgeon. There are many bunion procedures that are managed differently.
It depends on which procedure was performed. There are many procedures and depending on which one was done that will dictate the post-operative protocol.
This is a question that is more appropriately directed to your surgeon
The only people who 'cast' somebody after a bunion surgery would be an Orthopedic Surgeons. Podiatrists use 'soft casts,' which are really compression dressings. Sadly, if you had your surgery by an orthopedic surgeon, your recovery is usually longer than with a Podiatrist, usually more painful, and the outcome is usually worse. But it is too late now! Good luck. I have no idea what your surgeon might do to you next!
You need to ask your surgeon. There are many kinds of bunion surgery in the fall of care depending on how the surgery was done.
That assessment is made by the Surgeon. It depends on extent of healing
The dressing will depend on the procedure performed and the preference of the surgeon. I recommend you discuss this with your surgeon for your particular case.
The answer is based on the type of bunion surgery you had, surgery progress on the postoperative visit you going to have, swelling, surgeon protocol, and wether you are ready for walking. please address this on your visit, and maybe ask the surgeon before you leave, what is expected at the next visit.
