You can, but your glucose level has to be under control before your surgery.Sent from my Galaxy
Usually, blood sugar is normalized perioperatively. The stress of surgery can raise blood sugar and predispose the patient to surgical site infection or diabetic ketoacidosis. For nonsurgical procedures such as endoscopy, there can be more leniency toward higher blood sugars.
Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus will increase the risk of complications during and after surgery.
