Can I have a filling without anesthesia?

I am a 26 year old male. I want to know if I can have a filling without anesthesia?

Anesthesia is there to reduce the discomfort from the procedure. If you can stand the pain, sure go for it.
Yes, if it is a small filling to be placed on the edge of enamel.
Yes, you can elect to have a filling without anesthesia. It may be very uncomfortable if the decay or drilling is deep.

Yes, many times without pain.
Yes you can. At our office we use a laser that allows us to “drill” in a tooth without getting it numb first.
If a filling is small and the decay not deep, it is often possible to do a filling without anesthesia. However, if decay deep, it would be uncomfortable to do so
Of course.
Hello, thank you for your interest in our practice.

There are some patients who prefer not having local anesthesia. However, most of the time, we do recommend local anesthesia for patient comfort.
Thank you.

The short answer is yes, sometimes. It depends on where it is and how deep it is. Some laser technologies make it easier to do more fillings and deeper fillings without anesthetic than without the laser technologies. I think, though, that you can't say that you will never need anesthetic.

Absolutely. Not sure why you would want to, though.

Yes you can, the choice should always be yours. Local anesthesia makes dental procedures painless, and for most patients and situations, it is often the best choice.
