When pregnant you should always discuss all medications with your obstetrician. Heartburn is common during pregnancy as the enlarging uterus increases intra-abdominal pressure which can only be relieved in a few ways with gastroesophageal reflux ( heartburn) being the easiest
Over-the-counter acid suppression is usually allowed and well-tolerated. One potential downside is that gastric acid helps with calcium absorption which is important for mom and baby during gestation. So don’t forget your prenatal vitamins and calcium-containing foods.
