When you say fixed, I assume you mean corrected? Astigmatism is a quite common component of a contact lens or an eyeglass prescription. Astigmatism has an amount and a location that must be corrected in a prescription which is determined by having a refraction done. A refraction will determine if you have nearsightedness myopia, farsightedness hyperopia, andor astigmatism. Astigmatism can change as we age. And yes, it can be corrected with glasses, with toric contact lenses, or by having refractive surgery done by an ophthalmologist. These options will be determined based upon your age, health, costs, medical issues, expectations, professional and recreational visual requirements, and your actual prescription. I would discuss your concerns with an optometrist or an optician who can refer you to an ophthalmologist if the surgery is what you want to do. Otherwise, they can provide you with glasses or contact lenses. Good luck and best wishes.
