I was diagnosed with fluid around the heart. Is it serious? Can fluid around the heart go away on its own?

It depends how much fluid there is and what kind of fluid. Needs testing and please visit your cardiologist.
It could be serious. Your doctor should be able to tell you after some tests. The fluid could go away on its own depending on what is causing it. Viral infections in general are self limiting. Good luck.
