Can typhoid pass from mother to baby?

My baby is currently 9 months and was on breast milk until now because my wife is currently suffering from typhoid fever after traveling. Can the infection pass to the baby even if my wife stops breast feeding?

Breast-feeding should have no relevant cause to infection as it is spread by stool hand contamination. Stool may be colonized for a couple of weeks even after treatment so good handwashing and hygiene is important. Breast-feeding they help the baby with maternal antibodies
Typhoid fever is highly contagious. An infected person can pass the bacteria out of their body in their stools. Thoroughly washing of hands after using the washroom and keeping good sanitation at home will help to reduce the risk of spreading.
