Can veneers cause sensitivity?

I want to get veneers. Can veneers cause sensitivity?

If your teeth are not sensitive prior to veneers, well planned, well done veneers should not cause sensitivity. Sometimes there is a day of gum irritation when the preparation is done.
Teeth sensitivity after veneers is a common and temporary condition that can last up to three weeks. It is caused by the exposure of dentin and the bonding chemicals used to place the veneers. To prevent or reduce sensitivity, you can brush your teeth with a desensitizing toothpaste, avoid hard foods, and drink room-temperature liquids. If the sensitivity persists or worsens, you should consult your dentist.
